Yoga master B.K.S. IYENGAR is a living legend and authority on yoga, both in the east and west. Through his intense practice and teaching of yoga for over 70 years, comes an innovative style of teaching which is characterized by alignment, precise direction and depth. Iyengar yoga brings clarity to the study of yoga. Emphasis is placed on meditation in action in the practice of asanas (yoga poses), while incorporating the science of sequencing. Mr. B.K.S. Iyengar is the world famous author of “Light on Yoga”, “Light on Pranayama” and “Light on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.”
Carolyn Belko, director, is a certified teacher of Iyengar Yoga. She has studied numerous times on monthly sabbaticals with Yoga master B.K.S. Iyengar at his Institute in India. After a 5 year tenure under Mr. Faeq Biria at the Centre de Yoga Iyengar de Paris, France, she came to San Diego in 1996 to co-direct the La Mesa Center. Carolyn is a staff member of the “3 year Iyengar Yoga Training Program” sponsored by the Iyengar Yoga Association of Southern California.
